Kids can learn first aid

The American Red Cross of Ventura County invites children ages 7 to 12 to learn about safety education during Safe Kid’s Day from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 11 at the Simi Valley Boys & Girls Club, 2850 Lemon Drive, and Tues., Feb. 16 at the Somis Boys & Girls Club, 5268 North St.

Children will learn basic first aid, what to do in an emergency and how to get help, water safety and rescue procedures, fire safety and preventing burns, how to avoid motor vehicle injuries, the importance of using safety equipment, school bus safety, preventing bicycle injuries, ways to prevent getting lost, and how to prevent choking.

The emergency training will be conducted by high school students in the American Red Cross of Ventura County Youth Services Program.
