Blues festival has new venue
The organizing committee for Michael John’s 2010 Simi Valley Blues Festival has secured a portion of Hummingbird Nest Ranch for the fifth annual daylong music event scheduled for Sat., April 17.
Hummingbird Nest Ranch is an equestrian facility at 2940 Kuehner Drive, Simi Valley. The land was once inhabited by the Chumash Indians. The ranch is comprised of 140 landscaped acres.
The festival is a Kiwanis charity event. Proceeds are earmarked to benefit the American Diabetes Association. A portion of the proceeds will support projects of the Kiwanis Club of Simi Valley, such as the Simi Valley Free Clinic, Samaritan Center, Boys & Girls Club, youth leadership programs and Senior Concerns.
The lineup of bands is being formulated. There will be an interactive area for children, a guitar raffle and food and craft vendors.
Kiwanis is seeking sponsors. For more information, e-mail simiblues@roadrunner.com.
