Grace Brethren hires varsity football coach
Josh Henderson has officially accepted the position of head football coach at Grace Brethren High.
Henderson, who replaces Terry Gourley, was previously an assistant coach at Azusa Pacific University (1997), head coach at Ambassador Christian (1998-99), head coach at Aquinas High (2000-08) and head coach at LA Baptist (2009).
In more than a decade as a head coach, Henderson’s teams have won two section championships, five league titles and posted 98 victories.
In his 12 years as a head coach in small schools, more than a dozen of his players have gone on to play college football, with many playing at the Division 1 level.
Henderson and his wife are residents of Simi Valley and will be sending three children to Grace Brethren Elementary.
Grace Brethren has a history of having a strong football program, with three CIF finals appearances—the school won a Division XII in 2004—and two semifinals appearances since a transition to 11-man football in 2002.
The Grace Brethren Lancer Booster Club will introduce Henderson as coach Tues., Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the school.
It’s an opportunity for Grace Brethren parents and members of the community to come and meet the new coach.
