Generous citizens made blanket drive a success
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for publishing my letter about the Covered With Love project in the Acorn . The response was overwhelming.
It’s no wonder that during this economic crisis in our country the Acorn is still doing a fantastic job at covering news and stories that the community can be inspired by.
Covered With Love was a huge success. Our goal was to collect enough blankets to distribute through New Hope Christian Fellowship, San Fernando Mission and Casa Pacifica. Not only did we reach our goal, but we were able to also distribute blankets to the Dream Center in Los Angeles.
I feel so fortunate to live in a city that does what it needs to do when there is someone in need.
I received a letter from Casa Pacifica with regards to the donation of blankets to the children. It expressed the tremendous difference in the children’s lives we make with the generosity.
This letter came addressed to me, but it is intended for all who have kindly remembered those children and brought a bit of normalcy and holiday spirit into their lives.
The letter ended with, “I’ll bet you didn’t realize just how much you were really giving.”
I wish I could share this letter with everyone. Throughout this project I was told it helped people realize that they can make a difference.
It just takes one person to get the ball rolling.
May you all have a healthy and happy New Year.
