Board member thanks supporters of Simi Free Clinic

As a board member for the Free Clinic of Simi Valley, I wanted to take a moment to thank some wonderful individuals and companies for their extraordinary contributions the past few months that have helped our nonprofit during some of the busiest months of the year.

In December, the clinic hosted its annual holiday gathering of friends and supporters, and on top of being able to thank our many wonderful volunteers and donors, the clinic was blessed to receive more than $10,000 in contributions to help it provide services to those in our community who need them most.

Among those who contributed significantly are Darla and Gary Smith, Peter Kiesecker, Gerri and David Todd, Peter and Diane Goldenring, and Southern California Edison, thanks to some legwork by Simi Valley City Councilmember Glen Becerra.

In October, employees, families and friends of the Simi Valley facility of Alcoa Fastening Systems visited the clinic to clean and paint, and for their work the clinic later received an ACTION (Alcoans Coming Together In Our Neighborhoods) grant for $1,500 to help continue the work of our vital nonprofit community organization. So, thanks to Alcoa, not only does our clinic look better, we got some needed funding to boot.

I have lived in Simi Valley for more than 30 years. This town is a great place to live for many reasons, and high among them is the fact that people truly care about their community.

The people and companies listed above showed that they care and did not ask for recognition in return for their wonderful gifts to our nonprofit organization.

I wrote this letter to show that we really appreciate it. To learn more about the Free Clinic of Simi Valley, please visit www.freeclinicsv.com.
