St. Rose of Lima students visit Marian shrines exhibit
MOTHER MARY—Fifth-grade students from St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Simi Valley study various rosaries during a Dec. 8 field trip to “Family Rosary Pilgrimage: Around the World with Mary” at Rancho San Antonio Boys Home in Chatsworth. Several shrines of church-approved Marian apparitions were on display, including Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico; Our Lady of Lourdes, France; and Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal.
St. Rose of Lima students in grades one through eight took a virtual journey to several Marian shrines around the world on Dec. 8 without leaving the Los Angeles area.
The students attended the “Family Rosary Pilgrimage: Around the World with Mary” in the gymnasium of Rancho San Antonia Boys Home in Chatworth.
Several shrines were represented, including Our Lady of Guadelupe, Mexico; Our Lady of Lourdes, France; and Our Lady of Fatima, Portugal. The exhibit included oral and audiovisual presentations.
A display of historical and unique rosaries as well as exhibits on the history and mysteries of the rosary were included in the presentation.
“The students had a wonderful time learning about the rich history of the rosary and how to apply its meaning throughout their everyday lives,” said Katherine Barrantes, principal of St. Rose.
St. Rose of Lima School is a Catholic family community and high school preparatory institution serving Simi Valley, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks as well as surrounding areas.
