Cancer survivor will ride in Rose Parade float
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY—Monica Trent of Simi Valley, left, is one of eight Kaiser Permanente patients who’ve been selected to ride on the healthcare provider’s Rose Parade float on New Year’s Day in Pasadena. She’s standing in front of the KP float with Rose Queen Natalie Innocenzi. Monica, a junior at Simi Valley High School, and the seven others were chosen to ride because of their heroic and inspiring battles against life-threatening diseases. Seven years ago Monica bravely endured 26 months of chemotherapy to rid her of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and she’s been cancer-free ever since. Now she wants to become a physician like her father, Dr. Christopher Trent, who practices at KP's Panorama City Medical Center.
