Unhappy with hospital’s hiring council member

I am irked that active City Councilmember Michelle Foster has been hired by Simi Valley Hospital as their director of marketing (Simi Valley Acorn , Dec. 11).

Her statement that she’s “not worried about the conflict of interest” is upsetting and shows how out of touch she is with this whole scenario ethically.

Having to recuse herself from decisions affecting the city is counterproductive when we pay her to be there to make the tough decisions needed on behalf of our city.

I am further outraged by the fact that she did business “longtime” with them as former owner of Printmasters, was on the board of the finance and strategic planning committees and has the mayor on the Hospital Foundation board as another conflict of interest and ally.

We’re supposed to trust that there is no valid conflict of interest? Is she kidding?

She needs to choose which job she wants more, to represent the citizens with integrity or work as a lobbyist for the hospital. She shouldn’t have both.
