Practices of water company should be investigated
May I make a suggestion to do an investigative report into the practices of Golden State Water and their recent outrageous rate hikes because of the monopolistic rate hikes of the Metropolitan Water District?
Our bill went from $114 to $440 from one billing cycle to the next. This equates to a 188 percent increase. Our neighbor paid $560.
Don’t you find it interesting that Metropolitan Water just recently put in for a $40-million-plus lease at the 52-story Two California Plaza in the glitziest part of downtown Los Angeles and almost got away with a massive raise for every employee in an economy like this one?
We are allotted 10 CCFs for a four-person household when a family I know with two people are allotted 36 CCFs. By the way, we have one small piece of grass, drip irrigation, a pool cover to lessen evaporation and low-consumption water closets, faucets, shower heads, dishwasher and clothes washer.
Don’t you also find it interesting that Golden State Water, or MWD, is taking the averages of the years during which El Nino was occurring—our wettest months in years?
It’s time citizens take a stand against this monopoly because our leadership in the government sure isn’t.
