Neighbors need a lesson in curb appeal
With property values at an all-time low and the economy still reeling in doubt, I have found myself with a property value dilemma.
My surrounding neighbors’ nonbelief in “curb appeal” is adversely affecting my property value. It is my understanding that my property value can be affected by my neighbor’s lack of effort.
Should I speak to them about their inability to mow their lawns or clean the garbage-filled driveways and ask them to plant some flowers in their overgrown, weedridden and desolate gardens?
The visually dried and cracked house paint and the need for them to use their front yard as a garbage bin or a storage facility for junk makes me wonder how they feel about their own homes, owned or rented.
I know that money is tight, but doing the work yourself with a little help from the local do-ityourself store could help.
While I understand there maybe a physical aliment involved or it may be a rental property, it seems ridiculous to allow potentially attractive homes to resemble the “Sanford and Sons” place of residence.
I recognize we have our own style of decorating, but there is a certain level of class required, right? And just when I thought I no longer had the issue of the neighborhood dogs dropping their appreciation on my lawn that issue has returned.
So, Acorn
readers, if you have any suggestions, please send them my way. Remember, property values affect everyone.
