A fight at a home in Simi Valley on Sunday ended when a gun went off and the gunman fled the scene.

Paul Braun, 53, of Simi Valley told police a man named Greg came to his home in the 4000 block of Angela Street shortly after 3 p.m. Dec. 6.

The two men argued and began to scuffle, at which point a handgun owned by Braun was introduced into the fight, according to the police report.

Greg allegedly fired the gun, and another man, Dean Vanourney, 49, of Simi Valley, was grazed by the bullet. Greg left with the gun before officers arrived.

Vanourney refused treatment for a minor wound to the forehead.

An investigation took place at the scene. Officers determined the fight was an isolated incident and the gunman did not present a danger to the community at large. Police are still trying to locate Greg.

The Simi Valley Police Department’s Detective Unit is handling the investigation.
