Practice makes perfect pitches


WINDING UP—Simi Valley resident Makenzie Whiteley, 8, gets a head start on the competition with some early practice recently at Rancho Tapo Community Park. Makenzie was at the park throwing pitches with her dad, John Whiteley. Makenzie plays softball in the Simi Valley Girls Softball league and will starting her fourth season in January. She can play anywhere in the infield but enjoys pitching the most.
