Foundation selects ‘09 Lew Roth award winners

The Simi Valley Education Foundation will host its annual Lew Roth Awards Dinner at 6 p.m. Fri., Feb. 5, 2010 at the Grand Vista Hotel in Simi Valley.

The foundation was formed in 1989 by Lew Roth, a Simi Valley school board trustee for 23 years.

At the dinner individuals are recognized in six categories for extraordinary service to the students of the Simi Valley Unified School District.

The recipients of the 2009 awards are as follows: Management, Jody Melanson of Simi Valley High School; Certificated, Susan Selvaggio of Sinaloa Middle School; Classified, Anita White of Sycamore Elementary School; Volunteer, Sheldon Liebmann of Simi Elementary School; Special Education, Angela DeSantis of Simi Valley Unified School District; and Lifetime Achievement, Diana Gonzalez of Abraham Lincoln Elementary.

The Legacy Award will be presented to Alcoa Fastening Systems for its work in the community. This award is given to honor a company or an individual who has made substantial contributions to students. It’s been presented only once before. 

The dinner is designed for the recipients to celebrate with parents, teachers, administrators and community members.
