Audition for a role in ‘The Wedding Singer’

Play is based on ’98 film starring Adam Sandler

Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Simi will present “The Wedding Singer,” a musical based on the 1998 Adam Sandler film, Feb. 27 through April 4, 2010, at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center, 3050 Los Angeles Ave.

Auditions are by appointment only from 7 to 10 p.m. Mon. and Wed., Dec. 14 and 16 at the arts center. Actors should bring head shot, resume and sheet music, and be prepared to sing at least 16 bars from an upbeat Broadway show tune.

The show will use a large singing and dancing ensemble, with many smaller speaking roles. Some celebrity impersonators will be needed as well.

Reading and dance callbacks will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., Dec. 19 at the same location. Rehearsals begin Jan. 10. There is no pay.

The show is directed by David Daniels. The musical director is Gary Poirot, and the choreographer is Becky Castells.
