Property owner offers land to displaced homeless
Certainly there are various arguments with respect to the homeless issue (“Park district at odds with homeless . . .”, Simi Valley Acorn , Nov. 20) However, the fact remains that there are real people every day living out in the elements.
As a matter of human rights, these homeless people are entitled to the minimal basic necessities of life, as well as compassion and assistance from all of us.
After reading the above mentioned article and considering the public open space argument, it would seem as though the only other concerns our government officials have are that the homeless lack toilets, trash cans and a manner to keep warm that doesn’t present a fire hazard.
I’m sure there are ways to provide these minimal needs to the homeless.
I feel compelled to assist with this problem since I have the means to help.
I am prepared to offer my limited help with this homeless and open space land-use issue if I can be guaranteed immunity from liabilities, fines and violation notices by providing the homeless with the use of one of my privately owned parcels of vacant land in the Marrland Subdivision (aka The Marr Ranch Parkland, Marr Ranch), unincorporated area of Ventura County, northeast of the city of Simi Valley.
This area is also in the hills and canyons and patrolled by our park rangers.
If there are any organizations or community groups interested in helping me with our local homeless situation through the use of my private land, please contact me at simivalley93065 @yahoo.com
