High Street seeking a Romeo and a Juliet

Auditions for William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” will take place at 7 p.m. Tues. and Wed., Dec. 8 and 9 at the High Street Arts Center, 45 E. High St., Moorpark.

Auditions in Los Angeles will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sat., Dec. 5 at The Complex, 6476 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood.

Actors can prepare a short monologue from any Shakespeare play or use the sides provided at the audition.

High Street Arts Center is producing the play in association with the California Shakespeare Company. William H. Fisher is directing.

Rehearsals will begin Dec. 28. Performances will run Feb. 5 to March 7, 2010. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with 2 p.m. Sunday matinees at the High Street Arts Center.

Open roles are Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, Mercutio, Tybalt, Nurse, Friar Laurence and Lord and Lady Capulet. Men and women ages 14 to 50 will play other multiple roles.

All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
