Out-of-town men arrested in connection with home invasion
Two Long Beach residents were arrested Nov. 20 in connection with a burglary at a home in the 5800 block of Cochran Street.
Just after 10 a.m. last Friday, a woman who lived in the home heard a knock at the front door but refused to answer it, then heard someone enter through the back door. She called 911 immediately. When officers arrived they evacuated her through a window.
At the same time, a resident one block south in the 5800 block of Fasley Avenue called police to report someone hiding underneath her trailer, which was parked in front of the residence.
Officers arrested the man hiding under the trailer, who was identified as Michael Levine, 33, of Long Beach.
During a search of the area using an LAPD helicopter and Simi Valley police officers, including a K-9, a man was found hiding in the bushes on 5900 Cochran Street. During his arrest, he was bitten by a dog on his left biceps and taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was treated for a puncture wound and released.
Levine and the second man, identified as Sovann Soth, 32, of Long Beach, were booked at Ventura County Main Jail on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy. Soth was also charged with resisting arrest.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Simi Valley Detective Unit at (805) 583-6950.
