Remembering Camelia

A LOVING TRIBUTE—Students at Mountain View Elementary in Simi Valley tied pink ribbons on a school fence to commemorate Camelia Tatu, a beloved custodain who passed away Oct. 5 after an eight-month battle with breast cancer. The students also planted a Camelia garden in front of the school. Tatu, a Romanian immigrant, also worked in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. She’s survived by her husband, Noel Layton, and their son, John Thomas “J.T.” Layton, a freshman at Royal High School.
