Memorial service for ‘Mrs. Moorpark’ tomorrow
A celebration of the life of Irene Cameron, a longtime member of the Moorpark United Methodist Church who died recently, will take place at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 21, at the church, corner of Third and Flory streets.
Cameron was born and raised in a small town near Lincoln, Neb. Cameron and her family moved to Moorpark in 1956 when her husband, John, found work in California.
Irene Cameron worked as a reporter for The Moorpark Enter prise for 18 years, where she picked up the title Mrs. Moorpark.
As a church member, Cameron served as Sunday School teacher, lay leader and a member of the Altar Guild and United Methodist Women. She assisted with the annual turkey dinners. During services she often sat with children in the pews while their parents sang in the choir.
The public is welcome to attend the remembrance service.
