Juliet Buff, Miss Simi Valley 2009, will host Simi Valley Town Center’s free weekly Kids Club for all local preschool-age children at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 21, in the mall’s Center Court, 1555 Simi Town Center Way, Simi Valley.
Children can also participate in free activities and crafts. In inclement weather, the event will be moved to the adjacent Community Room.
“Story Time with a Princess” is part of First 5 Ventura County’s Early Literacy Month activities.

Boy back in Simi after surgery
Friends and family of Jesse Cook will host a welcome-home party for him from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Famous Dave’s barbecue restaurant, 1229 Simi Town Center, Simi Valley.
Jesse and his family will be at the event at 7:30 p.m. to meet people.
Jesse is a young boy with an arterious venous malformation in his spine. He recently had corrective surgery. The operation was a success, although Jesse is still weak.
The party, which includes all dine-in and takeout orders, is a fundraiser to assist the family in covering medical bills from the surgery.

B&G Club sponsors poker tourney
The Boys & Girls Club of Simi presents the fifth annual Texas Hold ’em Poker Tournament tomorrow, Nov. 21, at the clubhouse, 2850 Lemon Drive, Simi Valley.
Registration and a Texas Hold ’em refresher course both start at 5 p.m. Play begins at 6 p.m. sharp.
The top three winners will receive prizes.
A tax-deductible donation of $100 includes dinner, drinks, funny money and raffle entry for prizes. All proceeds will benefit the club.

Habitat for Humanity Ventura County is seeking 36 golfers to compete in the Golffore-Homes Challenge on Mon., Dec. 7 at Wood Ranch Golf Club, 301 Wood Ranch Parkway, Simi Valley.
In the challenge, golfers will tee off at sunrise and play until sunset to try and play as many holes in one day as possible. The event will include food and prizes.
Golfers will need to secure sponsorships of $2,000 each to enter the event. Teams of two will need to raise $1,250 each.
Habitat will complete four homes for families in need in time for the holidays this year and begin construction on five more in 2010.

RHS basketball team washing cars
Royal High School’s Boys’ Basketball will host their Fall Carwash fundraiser from 8 a.m. to noon tomorrow, Nov. 21, in front of the school’s main entrance at 1402 Royal Ave., Simi Valley.
The cost is a $5 donation per vehicle.
