Tentative trial date set for man who shot daughter’s boyfriend
      A year after a Simi Valley man was shot and killed by his girlfriend’s father, the man who pulled the trigger is still awaiting trial. Harry Scribner, 66, shot 31-year-old Bryan Wall once in the neck in front of the Scribner home on Heavenly Court on Nov. 16, 2008, after an altercation in the driveway; Scribner says he acted in self-defense.

Assemblymember sets sights on county treasurer’s seat in 2010
      Assemblymember Audra Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) announced this week she’ll run for the post of Ventura County Treasurer-Tax Collector in 2010. The treasurer is responsible for the collection of taxes that fund county government. The annual salary is $150,445.

Woman went missing on cold night
      A Simi Valley woman who went missing while hiking in the hills above the city was brought home safely by police officers thanks to satellite and cellphone technology. Tereza Kristall, 45, had last been seen by her 14-year-old son at 2:45 p.m. last Fri., Nov. 13 at their home. The son called a neighbor that evening because his mother had not returned home.
