Interim superintendent running for a full term
      Stan Mantooth announced his candidacy for Ventura County Superintendent of Schools during a Nov. 2 press conference in Ventura. Mantooth, a Camarillo resident, was appointed county superintendent in September 2008. He replaced Charles Weis, who took a similar position in Northern California.

CLU School of Education earns accreditation
      The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing have reaccredited California Lutheran University’s School of Education. The School of Education needs the state commission’s approval in order to recommend students for California teaching and other credentials.

Hillside hosts study skills workshop
      Hillside Middle School will offer a workshop for parents at 7 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 19 in the school cafeteria, 2222 Fitzgerald Road, Simi Valley. Guest speaker Holly Kurtz will give a presentation on improving study skills. Kurtz will discuss practical strategies for dealing with organization, note-taking and test preparation.
