Adoption Fair to be held tomorrow in Ventura

2009-11-13 / Family

The Ventura Superior Court will host an Adoption and Permanency Information Fair on Sat., Nov. 14 at the Pacific View Mall in Ventura. Residents can speak with representatives from organizations that provide services and support to foster and adoptive parents.

On behalf of the Judicial Council of California, California Supreme Court Chief Justice Ronald M. George has proclaimed November Adoption and Permanency Month in Ventura County to further improve administration of justice for proceedings involving children and families. The Superior Court will promote permanency planning and adoptions throughout the month.

Each year in California, about 23,000 children enter foster care, and almost 71,000 children live apart from their families in out-ofhome care. Of the more than 35,000 children leaving foster care in 2008, 54 percent were reunited with their families and 21 percent were adopted.

For more information on adoptions, call the Ventura County Human Services Agency at (805) 2402759 and ask for the adoptions officer of the day.
