Final thoughts on politics and Hollywood
I think my fellow Acorn readers may have missed the point of my letter about the “name-calling” in the film “Julie & Julia.” The responses made me laugh out loud.
The point isn’t that I may be a stealth Republican with a hidden agenda. I was an open critic of George W. Bush for eight long agonizing years and still am. I did not vote for the man.
The fact is that name-calling is intended to insult by its very nature. It is neither artistic nor creative. It is, at the very best, childish. It is the last bastion of those who cannot win their arguments on the merits.
But that isn’t the real point of my letter. The point was to inform those who are tired of the media’s constant propaganda and, in particular, Hollywood’s preaching of their liberal agenda whenever they get the chance.
I don’t want to hear their opinion. When I do, I go see an Al Gore or Michael Moore movie. Please, give me a break and just entertain me.
It was also a heads up to those of like mind that perhaps their time and money might be better spent. And that, my friends, is the point. The power of the purse speaks louder than words. Christina Powers Simi Valley
