Dr. Robert Dodge, board member of Beyond War, will be the featured speaker of Simi Valley First Friday Forums from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, Nov. 6, at the Simi Valley UCC church at 370 Royal Ave. 

Dodge will introduce the short video “Building a World Beyond War: A Roadmap for Citizens,” which presents an overview of Beyond War’s ideas on practical, nonviolent alternatives to war.

A screening of “The Power of Forgiveness” will follow. The film explores recent research into the psychological and physical effects of forgiveness on individuals and within relationships.

Through character-driven stories the film shows the role forgiveness can play in alleviating anger and grief and the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that come with it.

The program is free, although a goodwill donation is suggested. Parking is free.
