Store employee allegedly put camera in restroom
A bookstore employee in Simi Valley was cited and released this week after authorities determined he had hidden a camera inside the business’ restroom to record a female patron.
Joseph Moreaux, 28, an employee at Family Christian book store at 2986 Cochran St., has been charged with peeping by means of an electronic device.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, on Sun., Nov. 1 at approximately 2 p.m., a 40-year-old female patron asked Moreaux if she could use the store’s restroom. While inside, she noticed a hidden camera that appeared to be recording her.
The woman notified her husband who was waiting for her inside the store. After recovering the camera, the victim and her husband notified the police.
During the investigation, police determined that Moreaux had entered the restroom immediately before the woman for the purpose of hiding a camera to record her while she was in the restroom. Based on the investigation, Moreaux’s actions appeared to be isolated to this incident only. Moreaux was cited and released for the charge.
