Business people do time to raise money for muscular dystrophy

2009-11-06 / Business

The Muscular Dystrophy Association will host the annual Simi Valley Lock-Up on Wed., Nov. 18 to raise money to benefit people suffering from neuromuscular diseases.

Business people of Simi Valley will donate their time to be “arrested” on that date. Before the event, the jailbirds will notify friends, family and co-workers to raise money to “post bail.” Arrestees will be taken to the Elephant Bar restaurant, where they will present their pre-raised bail of $1,000. The amount will sponsor a child for one year.

All jailbirds will receive a free meal. Prizes will be awarded to those who meet their bail.

Other volunteers are needed to act as greeters, judges and arresting officers who will transport the jailbirds to the restaurant.

MDA raised $16,126 at last year’s Lock-Up. This year’s goal is to raise $30,000.
