Dogs can dress up for Halloween too

Pup parade proceeds to benefit Pet Stop Rescue

Rotary Club of Simi Sunset presents its inaugural Howl-OWeen Pooch Parade and Pet Expo from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 31 at Rancho Tapo Community Park (Lemon Park), 3700 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.

Registration opens at 11 a.m. and the parade begins at noon.

Both pet owners and their dogs may come in costume.

The parade entry fee is $15 for one pooch and $10 for each additional family dog. The fee includes a free pooch bandana and goody bag.

The pet expo will have an extensive exhibitor area promoting pet-friendly products.

The event will also have an awards presentation, pet adoptions, refreshments and dog demonstrations by Disc Dogs and Dogs Can Dance.

Operation Blankets of Love will have a booth to collect old or new blankets, comforters, towels, pet beds and related pet items for homeless animals.

A portion of proceeds will go to Pet Stop Rescue, a local nonprofit animal welfare that places homeless pets in Ventura County.
