‘Horrified’ over police union’s front-yard rally
      I was so surprised and so very disappointed in the story that headlined in the Simi Valley Acorn (“Police union pickets outside council member’s home,” Oct. 23) that I am compelled to write my first letter to the editor.

      The Acorn editorial staff is entitled to their opinions on the Simi police contract negotiations, even if some of the evidence cited is incorrect.

Both sides need to get back to the negotiating table
      Opinions ran wild on both sides last year when the 7 percent increase to the Police Officers Association was announced. This was contracted during closed-door negotiations four years earlier, so the city lived up to the contract, regardless of the present economic situation. The POA was satisfied with the contract and their increase even during rough times.

Maybe sheriff’s department could do the job of SVPD
      Has the city of Simi Valley given any serious thought to replacing the Simi Valley Police with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department?
