GOURD OF THE RINGS— Above, Hillside Middle School leadership student Matt Van Horst, 13, places jack-o-lanterns on the edge of a waterfall in the Vintage Simi Hills lobby last Friday. Hillside students carved the creations as part of a noontime activity, then Hillside student leadership decided to donate them to seniors in the assisted living community to brighten their Halloween. At right, residents Phyllis Baller, left, and Arita Reiser delight at the sight of one of the pumpkins.
