Michael C. Lu Michael C. Lu, MD, will discuss his new book, “Get Ready To Get Pregnant: Your Complete Pre-Pregnancy Guide to Making a Smart and Healthy Baby,” at a free lecture at 4 p.m. Sun., Oct. 25 at the Simi Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1636 Sinaloa Road.

Lu is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and public health at UCLA.

Lu’s book and seminar provide a step-by-step plan to help expectant mothers have a safer pregnancy and a smarter and healthier child. He will explain how to help prevent pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes or preeclampsia, and minimize the likelihood of many childhood conditions, from asthma to autism.

His advice will include the topic of “brain foods,” toxic foods to avoid, how to strengthen one’s stress resilience, how to tune up the immune system and steps to detoxify one’s environment.

This is a seminar for women who are thinking about becoming pregnant, pregnant women, future fathers and family members
