These 10 athletes have made a strong case for Marmonte League Most Valuable Player honors through the season’s first half:

Nick Isham, QB/S/P, Westlake: This WHS junior standout has completed 45of-63 passes (71 percent) for 671 yards with 12 TDs and one INT. In addition, he’s rushed for 201 yards and two scores, has logged 26 tackles and two INTs as a safety, and averages 33.3 yards per punt.

Austin Edmonson, RB/CB, Moorpark: At 5-foot-7 and 175 pounds, this diminutive dynamo is a two-way senior starter at running back and cornerback. Edmonson torched Newbury Park for 124 rushing yards and three TDs in Week 5.

Avondre Bollar, QB/DB, Thousand Oaks: The San Diego State baseball commit has accounted for 14 total TDs (nine passing and five rushing). Bollar, a junior, is also the team’s leading rusher with 405 yards.

Adrian Muguerza, LB, Westlake: Muguerza, a middle linebacker, leads the Warriors with 55 tackles. In Week 5 against Agoura, he picked off a pair of passes and returned one for a TD. The senior has three INTs and two forced fumbles.

Keith Langley, DB/RB, Royal: Langley, a junior, had four INTs in the Highlanders’ first four games. He’s also expected to see time at running back in the future.

Jake Geringer, QB, Newbury Park: The NPHS junior signal-caller has thrown for nine TDs with only a pair of picks. He’ll likely surpass 1,000 yards through the air this week.

Tavior Mowry, RB, Westlake: The junior tailback has run for 601 yards and scored nine total TDs. He’s averaging 8.4 yards per rushing attempt.

Wes Rowell, MLB, Agoura: Only junior, Rowell has established himself as a top playmaker for Agoura’s defense. He leads the team with 11.8 tackles per game.

Nelson Spruce, WR/S, Westlake: Spruce, a junior, caught four TD passes in the season opener and hasn’t looked back. He leads WHS with 20 receptions for 504 yards and has eight scores.

Phillip Muscarella, WR/LB, Newbury Park: Muscarella is the Panthers’ go-to guy in their passing attack. He’s also a dynamic kick returner and solid defender.
