Tip leads to arrest of serial tagger

On Oct. 8 Simi Valley Police Department dispatch received a phone call from two Simi Valley residents who were observing a male juvenile tagging the electrical boxes near Erringer Road and Larch Street.

The citizens remained on the line until police officers arrived and saw the suspect walking away from the scene. The couple positively identified the juvenile suspect, who was arrested and transported to the police department.

The tagger’s criminal activity was known to members of the department’s Special Problems Section. Through investigation and an interview with the suspect, officers were able to book the juvenile for 119 acts of vandalism for a total loss of $20,675.

Later it was learned the tagger had committed other acts of vandalism prior to being contacted. This new information revealed a loss of an additional $4,375.

At the time of his arrest, the juvenile was also in possession of a set of brass knuckles and graffiti tools/devices. He was booked at Juvenile Hall.
