SOAR will host the fifth annual SOAR 5K Run Through the Orchards at 8:30 a.m. Sun., Oct. 11 behind Underwood Family Farms, 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark.

The race will be run on a certified, all-dirt course

hrough walnut, avocado and orange groves in the Tierra Rejada Valley greenbelt between the East County cities of Ventura County. Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners

n eight age categories.

The event will also feature a 3K fun walk and an after-race drawing for all participants.

The race is a fundraising event for Save Open space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR), the nonprofit organization working to protect the agricultural lands and greenbelts between the cities of Ventura County.

Preregistration is available online at www.active.com through midnight tonight, Oct. 9, and is $20 for adults and $8 for children age 12 and under. Participants can also register on the day of the race at $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
