I want to stand in support of Elton Gallegly’s continued representation of Simi Valley in the House of Representatives.

I am an independent voter and have voted for individuals from all parties locally and nationally. But I have voted for Elton Gallegly because he has an excellent voting record on the issues that matter most to me.

And although we may differ on some issues, he holds a very solid position on issues and tirelessly upholds them against all odds, which, to my mind, demonstrates character and commitments to his beliefs. That is not nay-saying, it is commitment.

It is not the fault of every Republican that California is such a fiscal mess. We have the Progressive Democrats who have a stranglehold on the California Legislature to blame for that.

And now they hold the nation in the same stranglehold. Their fiscal policies will kill any possibility of a timely economic recovery.

Right now, the farmers in our state are losing their farms due to radical environmentalist lawmakers who have shut off water to grow our food because of a little fish. One of the biggest industries in the California economy is being shut down, and it’s not the Republicans that are doing it.

The economic consequences will be great, and we will have the Democrats to thank for that.

Elton’s voice has been a tireless cry in the wilderness for reason and responsibility.

He has supported and authored many proposals to solve the issues that your reader, Mr. Hernandez (Simi Valley Acorn Letters, Sept. 25), has asserted are important! I suggest he do some research on the facts before generalizing and labeling people or using them in his prejudiced rant against Republicans. Christina Powers Simi Valley
