Upset cars were ticketed at SVHS’s Back-to-School
      Last Wednesday my husband and I attended Back-to-School Night at Simi High and were quickly penalized, as were many other parents, for doing so. You see, available parking was woefully inadequate, and parents, already pressed to meet a 6 and 6:30 p.m. start time, took to parking at the end of rows and along curbs usually deemed for drop-offs only.

Confederate flag on truck is a bad sign of the times
      I left my grandmother’s home on Sept. 25 and saw something that sent shivers up my spine. I was turning onto L.A. Avenue from Yosemite and a fairly new Ford truck made the turn as well. Attached to the truck were two huge flags; one was the American flag, the other was a Confederate flag. These were huge, 5-foot-by-4-foot flags blowing in the wind.

Thankful Kadota-Fig zoning won’t change
      A huge victory was achieved on Tuesday for the residents of the Kadota-Fig area of Simi Valley after the City Council and planning commission members voted unanimously to leave the neighborhood zoned as it is rather than change it as was proposed on the city of Simi Valley’s proposed General Plan.

      In reading Rep. Gallegly’s oped it’s clear that he is toeing the ypical GOP line by falsely stat ng that proposed Democratic leg slation and the recent stimulus are “job killers” (Simi Valley Acorn , Sept. 25).

      I want to stand in support of Elton Gallegly’s continued representation of Simi Valley in the House of Representatives. I am an independent voter and have voted for individuals from all parties locally and nationally. But I have voted for Elton Gallegly because he has an excellent voting record on the issues that matter most to me.

      I was participating in the Wag ’N Walk with my dogs Daisy and Pluto on Saturday when I had an unfortunate accident. I would like to extend my thanks to all who offered comfort while I waited for a ride back to the park.

A suggestion for ity’s water laws
      I would like to suggest that the watering of lawns, etc., be done on an odd-even basis. The odd and even numbers used would be house numbers. Even addresses water on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; odd number homes water on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
