Representatives call for united effort in meeting new global warming standards
     Transportation officials, city leaders and open space advocates called for a united effort to meet recent state laws aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions during a town hall meeting last week in Camarillo. About 200 people attended the SOAR and Sustainable Community Strategies conference on the California State University Channel Islands campus on Sept. 24.

Citizen tip leads to arrest for grand theft auto
     Thanks to the tip of an alert citizen, Simi Valley police officers arrested a Thousand Oaks man early Thursday morning for grand auto theft. Police are still looking for another man who may be connected with the crime.

     Four residential break-ins occurred at homes in the eastern portion of Simi Valley the week of Sept. 21. The owners of the homes were away during the early daytime hours when the crimes occurred.

Community council to meet
      The Simi Valley Community council will meet for a no-host lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thurs., Oct. 8 at the Lost Canyons Golf Club, 3301 Lost Canyons Drive, Simi Valley. The guest speaker will be Bill Nash, public information and marketing officer for the Ventura County Fire Department. The meetings provide a forum for members to share their experiences and upcoming events.
