Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church hosts a free community meal Thursdays from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 4191 Cochran St., Simi Valley.

The meal is a service to those who are suffering economic hardship, homelessness or who are lonely and wish to have a dining companion.

A fresh, home-cooked meal is served with home-style table settings. To-go snack bags are offered.

High chairs and booster seats will be available for young children. The facility is wheelchair accessible.

Homework help and a snack are available from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Prayer requests are accepted.
