Search warrant yields guns, drugs

A 27-year-old Simi Valley man was booked on an array of charges Sept. 12 after police came to serve him with a felony arrest warrant.

According to police reports, the Simi Valley Police Department received information that Santiago Estrada, who was wanted for battery with serious bodily injury and making criminal threats, was inside a home at 4041 Adam Road. A surveillance was conducted, and Estrada was seen leaving the residence on foot.

A chase ensued, and the suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle during which he was hit with a Taser. Estrada was not injured, but an officer sustained a fractured hand during the scuffle.

Narcotics detectives later obtained a search warrant for the home and reportedly found a large quantity of methamphetamine and marijuana. A large caliber pistol was also recovered and determined to be stolen.

Estrada was booked in Ventura County Main Jail and charged with resisting arrest, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a loaded/stolen firearm and possession of a controlled substance for sale. He was also charged on his earlier felony warrant. Estrada is not eligible for bail.
