Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10049, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 55, Marine Corps League 597 and local fraternal organizations will host a remembrance ceremony for military personnel who are listed as missing in action or prisoners of war today, Sept. 18 at Rancho Tapo Veterans Plaza, 3700 Avenida Simi, Simi Valley.
Seating begins at 6:30 p.m. and the ceremony will start promptly at 7 p.m.

Poker run benefits mentor programs
The Big Run IV, a motorcycle poker run to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County, will be Sun., Sept. 20.
Bikers can sign in between 8:30 and 10 a.m. at HarleyDavidson in either Camarillo or Simi Valley and select from one of three starting locations.
The ride will end in Grove Park in Camarillo with live music, raffle, barbecue lunch, auction and prizes. Celebrity and Simi Valley resident Mickey Jones will be the grand marshal.
Participants must be 18 years or older.
Pre-registration cost is $25 per rider or passenger. Day of event cost is $30.

Boy Scout Troop 698 will host its annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 26 at Shepherd of the Valley Church parking lot, 4191 Cochran St., Simi Valley.
Items for sale will include clothes, toys, furniture, books, tools, bicycles, music and videos. Donations from the public will be accepted. A non-cash tax receipt is available for donations.
Electronics such as old TVs and computer monitors will also be collected for recycling from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Elks celebrate Wild West Days
The Simi Valley Elks will host their fifth annual Wild West Days celebration Fri. and Sat., Sept. 25 and 26 at the lodge, 1561 Kuehner Drive, Simi Valley.
Friday night will feature casino night, cowboy stew and hors d’oeuvres. Call for time of event.
The veterans’ lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The meal is free for all veterans. All others may eat for $5.
Boots and Slippers Square Dance Club of Simi Valley will provide entertainment.
Western tri-tip and barbecue chicken dinners will be served starting at 6 p.m. Saturday.
