Unknown man was couple’s saving grace on freeway
On Sun., Aug. 30, my wife and I had a tire blow out and come off the rim on the westbound 118 just past Rocky Peak.
There is no shoulder there due to construction, so we pulled over as far to the right as we could and stopped next to the short barrier wall. We called AAA and were sitting in the car waiting for help.
Needless to say, cars were whizzing by, barely missing us. Then a green pickup truck stopped behind us and a man— we did not get his name—got out and came up to tell us we should get out of the car before we got hit.
He got us out to safety behind the barrier. Then he walked back up the freeway to direct traffic around our cars.
He had seen us in trouble as he passed by and actually circled back around to stop and help. He had also called the CHP and stayed with us until they arrived.
We did thank him at the time but would like to thank him again and let everyone know that there are some brave and selfless people still around. He put himself (and his truck) in danger to help out a couple of strangers. May God bless him.
