Workshops are mandatory for nonprofits seeking CDBG funds

The city of Simi Valley is requesting project submissions for the Community Development Block Grant Program which uses funds made available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The grants will go to nonprofit organizations sponsoring projects which provide direct benefit to primarily low- and moderate-income residents of Simi Valley.

To assist the organizations applying for funds, mandatory workshops will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Tues., Sept. 22 and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tues., Sept. 29 in the community room, City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

Representatives only need to attend one session. Applicants who do not attend will not qualify for funding.

The workshops will cover material related to the application process, reimbursement request submittals and reporting requirements for the program year.

The city will accept grant applications by appointment only from Sept. 30 through Oct. 13.

To register for a session, call Matthew Booth at (805) 5836392.
