Donations sought for badly injured pup

Tiny Loving Canines Inc., a nonprofit animal rescue group, is seeking donations to assist with medical expenses for Cody, a young 20-pound mini Australian shepherd who was critically injured recently in a hit-and-run accident.

Cody had arrived in California days earlier from the Midwest. He had been shipped by plane to a local resident who decided the dog was no longer wanted. The dog was given away to another family.

At the new home, Cody was anxious and afraid of his new surroundings. He escaped from the yard and ran into the street, where a vehicle struck him. A volunteer with TLC found the dog within minutes of the accident and contacted the police. Cody was rushed to emergency services for treatment.

The dog suffered from three limbs torn from their sockets, blood in the lungs and multiple cuts and bruises. Cody will need multiple surgeries, extensive care and lengthy rehabilitation.
