Four-hour checkpoint nets 1 DUI

A sobriety/license checkpoint conducted by the Simi Valley Police Department on Fri., Aug. 28 in the 1700 block of Los Angeles Avenue resulted in the arrest of one individual for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Officers also issued 25 citations and either stored or impounded seven vehicles.

During the four-hour event 866 motorists were detained and asked to show their driver’s licenses. The checkpoint was staffed by 24 members of the police department. The program was funded by a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
