Friends of NRA coming to Reagan

The Simi Conejo Friends of NRA will host the fourth annual fundraiser on behalf of the NRA Foundation from 5 to 9 p.m. Sat., Sept. 12 at the Reagan Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The cost is $100 and up, which includes free prize drawing tickets and a self-guided tour of the the Reagan Library before 5 p.m.

The organization supports the second amendment of the Bill of Rights and shooting sports.

Benefit at ranch will help hospice

State Sen. Tony Strickland and Assemblywoman Audra Strickland will host a wine and cheese charity fundraiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thurs., Sept. 17 at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, 2940 Kuehner Drive, Simi Valley.

All proceeds will benefit Loving Heart Hospice, a nonprofit foundation that provides support to terminally ill patients in Ventura County and San Fernando Valley.

Reservations are required to attend.

It’s Patriot Golf Days at Simi Hills

Simi Hills Golf Course is participating in the third annual Patriot Golf Day, a joint initiative of The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. The event runs through Mon., Sept. 7.

Golfers across the country and at Simi Hills have the opportunity to donate to the Folds of Honor Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to families of those who have died or become disabled in the line of duty.

The inaugural Patriot Golf Day, which took place on Sept. 1, 2007, raised more than $1.1 million to support the families of military service members. In the last two years, more than 550 postsecondary educational scholarships have been given through the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Simi Elks don red, white and blue

The Simi Valley Elks Lodge will participate in Elks National Patriotism Week Sept. 7 to 13. 

Members will sport red, white and blue colors; focus on their Heritage Corner by displaying a history of flags; and distribute the flag code.

The Elks will have a special dinner on Fri., Sept. 11. 

Brenda Manke, an administrator from the Veterans Home of California Ventura, will share information for veterans on special programs. The public is invited.
