Youth employment panel needs new members

Spots open for local business reps

Applications are being accepted for positions on the Youth Employment Service Advisory Board, which promotes the employment of Simi Valley youths, assists youths in developing an understanding of the expectations of employers and acts as an advisory body to the City Council on matters pertaining to local youth employment.

The board conducts an annual job and career fair and interview skills workshops at local high schools.

The following board positions are open: two local business representatives, one high school student representative, two memberatlarge representatives and one alternative member-at-large.

Members serve a two-year term starting Dec. 1.

One high school student is also needed to complete a partial term from Dec. 1 through Nov. 30, 2010.

The board meets on the third Wednesday of each month, September through June, at 8:15 a.m. in the city hall community room, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
