‘Nice People’ will dance again in September reprise

Lee Blessing’s comedy “Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music,” presented by an ensemble cast of Moorpark College students in July, has been carried over to the fall.

The show will be reprised at 8 p.m. Sept. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19, with 2 p.m. matinees Sun., Sept. 13 and 20 in the Studio Theatre, first floor Performing Arts Center, Moorpark College, 7570 Campus Road.

Because the college was closed Friday through Sunday during the summer, attendance was off for the Monday through Thursday performances. Reviews were so good that director John Loprieno wanted to take advantage of typically larger weekend audiences

The play tells the story of Eva June, who left her husband in Minnesota to run a bar in Texas with Jim. But Jim gets more than he bargained for when Jason, Eva June’s 15year-old son, and Catherine, Eva’s niece, come to visit for the summer. Roy, the amorous local cowboy, is determined to get a dance with Catherine “even if she is an ex-nun.”
