Sign up now for next CERT training class
The city of Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services is accepting applications for the next Community Emergency Response Training, which begins Sept. 24.
Classes will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays for six weeks in the emergency Operations Center, Police Department building, 3901 Alamo St., Simi Valley. The seventh and final class will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., Oct. 31 at the Ventura County Fire Regional Training Center in Camarillo.
Citizens age 18 and up who live or work in Simi Valley may participate in the free training.
CERT’s handson training program covers disaster preparedness, fire safety and suppression, disaster medical skills, light search and rescue techniques, disaster psychology and the elements of team leadership.
Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The sign-up deadline is 6 p.m. Fri., Aug. 28 or until the class is full.
