Water mandate is ‘extremely intrusive’
I just read the editorial regarding water use in Simi Valley. I agree that assigning specific watering days for homeowners is extremely intrusive.
I use my automatic sprinklers between 5 and 6 a.m. so that I am not wasting water through evaporation. I also have droughttolerant landscape.
My backyard system has been set for Tuesday and Friday. My front yard gets watered every third day, which averages less than three times a week.
I guess that I will have to change these systems to new days. While inconvenient, I will be able to make these changes. However, if we get to the point where everyone will be limited to Monday and Thursday, I will be very unhappy.
My gardener comes on Thursday morning. I don’t believe that he should have to work on damp grass or in wet flower beds. I think that is inappropriate.
I’m sure that other homeowners have gardeners that work on other “legal” watering days, and I don’t think that they should be subject to these new restrictions.
Thank you for asking for our opinion. I appreciate the chance to respond. Linda Hogue Simi Valley
