The Brighton Collectibles retail store will host a free “mall picnic” fundraiser to help feed those hurt by the economy from 5 to 7 p.m. Sun., Aug. 9 at the store in Simi Valley Town Center, 1555 Simi Town Center Way, Location 500.

The event will provide free meals donated by local businesses and raise funds for the Samaritan Center of Simi Valley, local individuals and families in need, and the “American Heroes” national campaign.

For the Aug. 9 event, funds will be raised through donations, sales of raffle tickets, and a percentage of sales of a special line of American Heroes jewelry designed for the promotion.
